Steps to take in class:
When you are struggling, the first thing that you can do is stop the teacher immediately in class and ask the questions that you need clarified. It is highly probable
that other students have the same questions and will benefit from your braveness. If that fails, call the teacher over to you independently during the assignment. Do not leave the class without understanding the lesson or the homework assignment.
Steps for students and parents to take at home:
Are you reviewing your vocabulary and resource sheets every night? Most students fall behind when they take a homework break. Remember, even if there is not
written homework, you still have things to do.
The best way to see if you understand something is to see if you can teach it to someone. Even if your parent has never taken a language, our units and steps can be explained to them in English. As soon as you can not explain an idea or concept to them, put a star next to where you are struggling. From here, you can check your book to see if it clarifies things for you. If that does not help, set up a time to see me. Please see where you are struggling before you come in, you will have more success if you can identify your concerns. Then we will solve them together.
